‘Why I raised £20,000 for Ched Evans complainant’

A blogger has told 91Èȱ¬ Radio 5 live why she’s helped raise £20,000 as part of an online fund for the complainant in the Ched Evans case.

A blogger has told 91Èȱ¬ Radio 5 live why she’s organised a campaign to raise money for the complainant in the Ched Evans case.

The footballer was found not guilty in a retrial of raping a 19-year-old woman in a hotel room.

He was originally found guilty of rape in 2012, but that conviction was quashed in April.

The woman behind the fund doesn’t want to be identified, because she says she faces a backlash from online trolls . Instead, she uses the pseudonym Jean Hatchet.

Details of the woman's past sexual behaviour were heard during the second trial, a move criticised by some, including Ms Hatchet.

She told Adrian Chiles that she’s fundraising to show support for the complainant, after the disappointment that the complainant's sexual history had been brought up in court.

“What she needs if a gesture of support from the British people. This is one final gesture of care from women, men and good people.â€
