The Bard of Barnsley welcomes Bob Dylan's Nobel prize
The Bard of Barnsley believes it was 'a great idea' to award Bob Dylan the Nobel Prize for Literature.
Dylan was given the award for his song lyrics, which were classed as literature.
He won "for having created new poetic expressions within the great American song tradition鈥.
Ian McMillan, the Bard of Barnsley, said: "I think it's a great idea, I think the job of the Nobel Prize is to spread the net of what literature can be.
"It doesn't simply have to be poems or stories or novels."
Other American Nobel winners include William Faulkner, Ernest Hemingway and Toni Morrison.
