Should pregnant women be forced to show their passports on NHS maternity wards?
St George's University Hospitals Foundation in South London says that maternity tourism has reached crisis levels. They are proposing a scheme in which mums who turn up on labour wards will be required to show photo ID, and proof of right to remain in Britain. Is it right that only people who pay into the system should be allowed to use it? Or is this too cruel towards pregnant women who may not be able to afford to give birth, and possibly a sign of growing intolerance towards immigrants? Pooja, Neelam, and Sonu told Amol their thoughts and experiences.
