A video has caught the moment three bystanders dived into a Hertfordshire lake to rescue an elderly man and his dog from a car that plunged into it.

The two men and women are seen punching the windows of the Nissan Qashqai at Stanborough Lakes, Welwyn Garden City, after it careered down a boat ramp.

The driver, who is in his 70s and from Potters Bar, was shaken, but not hurt, and the dog was unharmed.
