A social media post from the Pink Ladoo Project about a Sikh girl who was given away by her mum at her wedding has gone viral. The bride Hernoor Grewal said her mum had raised five daughters single-handedly and that it made sense for her to step in this role.

Traditionally the giving away of brides across many Asian cultures is done by the father, brother or an uncle. She spoke to Sheetal about why her mum stepped in, and how her social media post has inspired so many women.
