SA shops salvaging 'expired' goods
Supermarkets across the world have often been accused of letting their out-of-date products go to waste, although many are taking steps to try and combat this problem.
In Denmark earlier this year, Europe's first "sell-by" supermarket opened, selling products that are past their sell-by dates but still perfectly edible.
Now there is something similar in South Africa.
The 91热爆's Taurai Maduna went along to Foodies grocery store in Cape Town and spoke to entrepreneur Dave Bester to find out more for Africa Business Report.
