Hornet that preys on honey bees invades Britain

An inch-long hornet that kills honey bees has been spotted in Britain for the first time. The Asian hornet was found near Tetbury, Gloucestershire, and work is now underway to find and destroy its nests.

Tim Lovett, from the British Beekeepers Association, told 5 live Drive the hornet has 鈥渂een making its way up through France.鈥

鈥淭hey can massively disrupt a hive and cause real problems鈥.

DEFRA has now set up a 3 mile surveillance zone around the area.
