More than $380,000 has been raised online for an 89-year-old ice lolly seller who was pictured struggling to push his cart.

Fidencio Sanchez from Chicago was forced out of retirement this summer after his only daughter died and he took custody of her children.

A GoFundMe page was set up by Joel Cervantes who was moved to see the ice lolly seller struggling with his trolley.

Cervantes said: "They had to start working a little harder to make ends meet and that's one of the reasons he was selling popsicles, to make ends meet.

"They're very humble people and they still don't believe it, they're still in shock."
