In 2010 the writer Emma Donoghue enjoyed a phenomenal success with her book Room, later made into a film. For her latest work, The Wonder, she goes back to her native Ireland in the 19th Century - a story about a young girl who is heralded for surviving without food, in the days when eating disorders went undiagnosed. We have a report from Uganda about Phiona Mutesi, the chess champion whose success story has recently been made into a Disney film. And, Songhoy Blues, the music group from Mali where making secular music has been a dangerous activity during the recent conflict, talk about how music is the very essence of the soul.
