Live from Meningitis Now
Gently rolling hills and wide open spaces provide the peaceful backdrop to Fern House in Stroud. From here you can look up to Standish Woods and across to the top of the beautiful Painswick Valley. In the other direction the land rises sharply towards Rodborough Fort and the National Trust Common land beyond.听
That鈥檚 the view that greets the staff and volunteers who run Meningitis Now, the national charity established in 1986 in the midst of a mystery outbreak of the disease in the Stroud area. The aims of the campaigners involved haven鈥檛 changed over the years; they are dedicated to saving lives and rebuilding futures by funding research, raising awareness and providing support.
To mark the thirtieth anniversary, 91热爆 Radio Gloucestershire is going to the heart of the Meningitis Now operation and putting the spotlight on the work that鈥檚 carried out at its Bath Road HQ.
The programme will be hosted by 聽presenter Anna King 聽who has lived in the Stroud area for many years and has followed the fortunes of the charity over the decades.
To accompany the programme, specially commissioned films have been produced featuring archive news reports and footage from the 1980s. You can see them on the 91热爆 Gloucestershire Facebook page .听
