The grave of the Unknown Man: 'One of Hardingstone's curiosities'
The identity of a man burned to death 86 years ago remains a mystery to this day.
The grave of the Unknown Man at St Edmund's in Hardingstone is one of Northamptonshire's more unusual memorials.
Alfred Rouse tried to fake his own death by leaving a man to burn in his Morris Minor in the village in 1930.
Philanderer Rouse, 36, was in financial trouble when he set his car alight - and was later hanged for the murder.
The church's Rev Beverley Hollins and Adrian Bell, from Hardingstone History Society, explain how the Unknown Man came to be buried at St Edmund's.
