A portrait of “Granny” – J2, the world’s oldest killer whale
J2 is the oldest living matriarch of the Southern Resident clan of killer whales in Northwestern America. Still going strong at an age between 85 and 105 years, ‘Granny’ leads her relatives through the coastal waterways of the Salish Sea in search of salmon. The members of the Center for Whale Research and Dan Franks of the University of York pay tribute.
