World Cup winner Thierry Henry has defended England winger Raheem Sterling, saying some of the criticism he has received during Euro 2016 is 鈥渦nfair鈥�.

Sterling was substituted at half-time during England鈥檚 2-1 win over Wales and has been widely criticised for his performance.

鈥淩aheem Sterling has a great future but he is not the finished article - people are treating him like he is the finished article,鈥� Henry said.

鈥淚 was not the same player when I 27 as I was when I was 20.

鈥淚 wasn鈥檛 that type of player when I was 20. I struggled. I struggled with life and I struggled with everything and it鈥檚 a normal thing,鈥� he added.

The former Arsenal forward also says Sterling shouldn鈥檛 come under increased scrutiny because of the 拢49m fee Manchester City paid Liverpool.

鈥淚 think it鈥檚 a bit unfair in a way as he didn鈥檛 say 鈥榖uy me for that type of money鈥�,鈥� said Henry.

鈥淗e鈥檚 a good player, let鈥檚 see,鈥� he added.
