Why a banana photo prompted an online Somali protest
When LA Times journalist Matt Pearce sat down in a Somali restaurant in Minneapolis, he never thought his meal would suck him into the online world of the Somali diaspora. But when a banana arrived with his meal, he tweeted out a picture. Hundreds of people responded.
