Green shoots bring rich reward
Hops are traditionally grown in Kent and the Midlands, but last year a micro-brewery planted a hop garden near Reepham to provide ingredients for its beer.
It has now found the crop has provided an unexpected second secret harvest.
Green shoots sprouting the base of the hops are a delicacy on the Continent, selling for hundreds of pounds a kilo.
The All Day Brewing Company has no plans this year to sell the valuable shoots but who knows... maybe next year they will be popping up at restaurants in Norfolk!
