In March 1960 Queen Elizabeth II and the Duke of Edinburgh made their first visit to Llandaff Cathedral. They celebrated a service to mark the cathedral鈥檚 restoration following a bombing raid during World War Two. A crowd of hundreds lined the streets and cheered as they arrived in Llandaff. Lessons were read during the service by HRH Prince Philip.

This was a decade of change as Britain became famous around the world for fashion and pop music. The Queen presented The Beatles with MBEs in 1965.

Television became the most important way of finding out about things and in 1969 the first TV programme about the family life of the royals was made. When it was shown, 23million people watched.

During the decade, the Queen鈥檚 family grew bigger: Prince Andrew was born in 1960 and Prince Edward in 1964.
