Coping with the commodity price slump
The slump in commodity prices has been forcing many of the big mining companies to reassess their strategies and restructure themselves. That has, in turn, led to some mines being mothballed and the loss of thousands of jobs.
The world's largest platinum producer, Anglo American Platinum or Amplats, is no exception.
There has been criticism of mining companies in general that they did not prepare for the current downturn in the commodities cycle during the recent boom years - a question the 91热爆's Matthew Davies put to Chris Griffith, the chief executive of Amplats.
