Google amongst 100s of competition cases

The European Union’s competition commissioner has said that Google is one of “more than 300 cases” they are looking at to decide whether a company has “selective advantage”.

The SNP has complained to the European Commission about the deal which Google agreed with the UK tax authorities. Claiming it could be in breach of EU state aid rules, designed to prevent individual countries from offering sweeteners to companies which would undermine the single market.

The EU’s competition commissioner Margrethe Vestager told Martha Kearney on Radio 4’s World at One, "I think when it comes to transparency it's important to make the general landscape more transparent."
