The executive members of football’s world governing body, Fifa, have elected Gianni Infantino of Switzerland as their new president. He succeeds Sepp Blatter, who stood down last year amid a corruption crisis that later saw him banned from football for six years. We get the latest from the meeting in Zurich, and the thoughts of Professor Chris Brady of the University of Salford.
Iranians are today voting in the first test of public opinion since Iran signed a deal with world powers over its nuclear programme. The country has faced difficult economic times, but there are now hopes of an economic revival. We hear from a number of Iranian voters, and get the expert view of Dr Sanam Vakil of Chatham House.
