#Bringbackourgirls who escaped Boko Haram 'stigmatised'

The Nigerian 鈥榞irls鈥, who were kidnapped and raped by Boko Haram face mistrust and hostility by their families and wider communities after escaping the radical Islamist group, found a report.

The women were initially labelled as 鈥楤oko Haram wives鈥 but over time they did re-integrate once trust was re-built; whereas the children were stigmatised due to their 鈥渂ad blood鈥, said peacebuilding adviser Kim Toogood, who authored the report for International Alert and UNICEF.

"In life their child will never accomplish anything. It will always have that bad blood running through it - it will never be anything but a hyena,鈥 Kim Toogood was told by local people.
