Ann is in her 50s. She's in employment. She works as a carer - looking after the elderly and those in their final weeks of life.
But Ann is on a zero-hour contract - and although she is earning a living she has been unable to find to somewhere to live - she doesn't have a deposit equivalent to 2 months' rent and she doesn't have a guaranteed income to cover the rent.

So to try and save money - Ann has been living in her car since October … she feels that this is her only option.
