Gambon: Clarkson 'didn't deserve' to be dropped by 91热爆
Sir Michael Gambon says he "isn't looking forward to" the new series of Top Gear.
Sir Michael Gambon says Jeremy Clarkson 鈥渄idn鈥檛 deserve鈥 to be dropped by the 91热爆, despite the former Top Gear presenter鈥檚 attack on a producer last year.
Speaking to Simon Mayo on the Kermode & Mayo Film Review while publicising his new film Dad鈥檚 Army, Sir Michael said he was not looking forward to the new version of Top Gear 鈥 now fronted by Chris Evans 鈥 due to his 鈥渓ove鈥 of Jeremy Clarkson. 鈥淎ll he did was punch someone in the mouth and that was it鈥f the bloke you punched is still friendly after a week, you鈥檙e okay,鈥 said Sir Michael.
His Dad's Army co-star Toby Jones laughed at the remark. In response Simon Mayo said, 鈥淥n balance, you can鈥檛 really get away with that, though.鈥
Jeremy Clarkson鈥檚 contract with the 91热爆 was not renewed after an 鈥渦nprovoked attack鈥 on a Top Gear producer in 2015.
The 91热爆鈥檚 director general Tony Hall confirmed the move in a statement saying he had not 鈥渢aken the decision lightly鈥 but that a line had been crossed:
鈥淭here cannot be one rule for one and one rule for another dictated by either rank, or public relations and commercial considerations."
