Mexico's tortilla tradition under threat
A report on the tradition of the Mexican tortilla and GM crops
A report on the tradition of the Mexican tortilla and GM crops. In southern Mexico, in Mojacar state the tortilla is a whole way of life. For thousands of years, local farmers have grown their varieties of maize, then ground the flour and made the tortilla but the discover of genetically modified versions of the crop, possibly unwittingly from government provided seeds, have placed the tradition under threat. Presenter: Nick Caistor.
