Inquiry into rail disruption launched
After 13 days of chaos on Abello Greater Anglia's branch lines, the train operator is to set up a joint inquiry with Network Rail into the serious disruption last month, caused by leaves on the line.
The thin residue left by the leaves meant train wheels slipped on the rails and were damaged. Up to 10 diesel engines needed their wheels re-lathed. It meant Abellio did not have enough engines to run a full service in the region.
Now industry expert John Curley has been brought in to find out exactly what caused the problem and what lessons can be learned.
