Exciting News About Ceres
The surface of Ceres; History of 3D printing; The future of 3D printing in dental care.
Using data from the Dawn spacecraft, scientists make sense of the mysterious bright spots on surface of Ceres - the largest object in the main asteroid belt. Andreas Nathues of the Max Planck Institute for Solar System research talks to 91热爆鈥檚 Jonathan Amos about the bright spots on the surface of Ceres. They reveal a briny ice layer underneath the planetary body鈥檚 crust. In other research scientists find ammonia on the surface - which means Ceres must have formed in the outskirts of our Solar System - far far away from its current position.
History of the Future
Melissa Hogenboom continues her exploration of the history of the future at the Science Museum in London. This week, she unravels the history of 3D printing.
3D Printing for Dental Care
Looking into the future of 3D printing, Richard Walker finds out more about a new antibacterial dental material developed by researchers in the Netherlands. Fillings, implants and one day even whole teeth could be made from this clever new material using an off-the-shelf 3D printer.
