Being the parent of a lively toddler can be challenging enough at the best of times, but when you’re coming to terms with a diagnosis which could have profound implications for future family life, it’s tough.
For many families, the Birstall Playgroup for children with special needs provides a safe space for toddlers and pre-school children to play whilst parents and carers take some time out.
Funding from Children in Need has played a vital role in ensuring the playgroup can run – it pays for a playgroup leader and assistant leader who are specialists in caring for youngsters with special needs and they have inspired an army of volunteers who help with day to day running.
