VJ Day Diary

Now, recently events have been held here in Leicestershire and Rutland and up and down the country to mark the 70th anniversary of VJ - or Victory in Japan - Day. It of course marked the end of World War Two. Many veterans shared their experiences, but for some the memories of what they went through remain difficult to share. 93-year old Maurice Naylor told 91热爆 Radio Leicester he was told never to speak of his experience as a prisoner of war to his family, and it was only many years later that he began to. That struck a chord with listener Carol Pearson, from Leicester. Her father, Ernie Thrower died two years ago aged 92, and it was only after his death that she found out he'd written notes about his war time experiences.
