Should Sikhs be allowed to marry non-Sikhs inside a temple?
There has been a spate of disruptions of weddings in Sikh temples (Gurdwaras) with protesters objecting to weddings where one of the participants is not a Sikh.
The objection is to "the religious union of two individuals of two different faiths" inside a Gurdwara, said Shamsher Singh, spokesperson for the National Sikh Youth Federation.
"They can have prayers inside the temple, just not the religious ceremony that's reserved for members of the Sikh faith", he added.
There was no objection to Sikhs getting married to non-Sikhs, sad Mr Singh.
The disruptions were saddening, said Anita Kapoor, former member of the standing advisory council on religious education.
"If we believe there is one God it really doesn't matter what pathway you find to him," she said.
"To disrupt somebody's wedding... in the name of God is unacceptable.
"These are houses of God, only God can exclude."
