Tracking down manta rays in Raja Ampat
The coral reefs of Raja Ampat in eastern Indonesia are the richest in the world, boasting more marine species than Australia’s Great Barrier Reef. This is the home of a mysterious giant, the manta ray. Mantas are endangered by poaching, so local conservationist Ronald has a mission to protect them. He must find a pregnant female manta ray and tag it with a radio transmitter, to locate and protect the mantas’ birthing ground. But to do that, first Ronald has to battle the very thing that makes these reefs so rich in life: some of the most powerful ocean currents on the planet.
