'Nothing more serious than somebody dying in police custody'

An independent review of police custody deaths has been announced by Theresa May.

An independent review of police custody deaths in England and Wales has been announced by 91热爆 Secretary Theresa May.

"I welcome this review, but it must be transparent, it must be robust, and it must be properly effective," said Marcia Rigg, whose brother Sean Rigg died at Brixton Police Station in 2008.

"We want accountability."

The review was given a "cautious welcome" by Deborah Coles, director of Inquest, a charity which advises people bereaved by a death in custody.

"There can be nothing more serious than somebody dying in police custody."
