Pele joins New York Cosmos
During the 1960s and early 1970s, soccer was a minority sport in the United States. That all changed when the New York Cosmos signed the Brazilian striker Pele, who was the most famous footballer in the world at the time. Clive Toye, general manager at New York Cosmos, spent four years persuading Pele to join the team. He spoke to Witness about the signing.
