Baskets of beauty
Wimbledon's head gardener Martyn Falconer explained what is required when preparing SW19's hanging baskets for the duration of the Championships.
With 15 previous tournaments behind him, and over 200 hanging baskets around the club to look after, Falconer gave his five top tips for the display:
Tip 1: ‘Water every day, whether it’s raining or shining’
Tip 2: ‘Deadhead on a regular basis’
Tip 3: ‘Spray and check for mildew and aphids that tend to wreck the baskets’
Tip 4: ‘Feed on a regular basis’
Tip 5: ‘When you’re starting out your hanging baskets, don’t be tempted to put too many plants in’
