Sousse attack eyewitness: ‘Packed’ beach became a ‘stampede’
At least 27 people, mostly foreigners, have been killed in an attack on a beach near two tourist hotels in the Tunisian resort town of Sousse, according to the Tunisian interior ministry.
Officials say one gunman has been shot dead and another is being pursued.
Steve Johnson, Radio Leicester’s rugby commentator, was on the beach at the resort when the attack happened. He said the “packed” beach became “a stampede”.
"People were screaming and running," he said. "There were firearms coming from both directions".
When asked about the nationality of the guests staying at the hotel, Mr Johnson said the tourists were "mostly English and German".
