About the music: Elsa is accused by her brother鈥檚 guardian of having killed her brother in order to become the Duchess of Brabant. The king declares that this matter shall be settled in combat, and asks Elsa who will represent her. She relates her dream of a knight who will protect her. Shortly afterwards, a swan will appear bearing Lohengrin, her knight in shining armour.
