Yvie Burnett: Want to wear heels? Try 'highland dancing'

Researchers in South Korea say if you are wearing heels over 10cm high then you could be damaging your ankles.

According to the study, which appears in the International Journal of Clinical Practice, prolonged heel wearing means you are more at risk of strains and more likely to lose your balance.

Vocal coach Yvie Burnett, a self-confessed shoe fanatic, said she was "brought up doing highland dancing - you had to be on your tiptoes all the time. I had these calf muscles that just were there from a very early age. I think I built up strength from that."

"I would suggest that anyone who wants to wear high heels and get used to them, practise doing highland dancing or ballet," she added.
