Step-by-Step – Move 4 – Travelling Work – The Prance
Martha Graham used a lot of imagery in her work and this move emulated a horse-like prance. The dancer keeps a very straight back whilst connected to her centre. Her feet peel up from the dance floor while pushing through every part of the foot. Her body completes a full Spiral starting from the base of the spine and finishing with the head as it turns. Martha would say that this was allowing the wolf to take a bite of one’s neck. Featuring Sandrine Monin from Phoenix Dance Theatre.
