Being black in America: Online reaction to Walter Scott shooting
Hundreds of people attended the funeral of Walter Scott on Saturday. The unarmed 50-year-old was shot several times by police officer Michael Slager in Charleston, South Carolina. Mr Slager was arrested on murder charges after a video showed him shooting at Mr Scott as he fled.
The case has reignited a long-running debate in the US about police use of lethal force, especially against African Americans. In response to the shooting, images about being black in America were shared online in large numbers, including one by writer Derrick Jaxn who lives in North Carolina. It depicts an African-American family having a discussion with their teenage son about law enforcement.
In this extract Derrick Jaxn speaks to 91热爆 WM presenters Joe Aldred and Nikki Tapper on the Chatback programme.
