Exams in some modern languages are to be scrapped if new proposals get the go ahead. At risk of being discontinued are GCSE's and A levels in subjects including Gujerati, Punjabi and Polish. The news has upset parents of pupils learning those subjects in Leicester from the sizeable Gujarati community, and is also causing concern for language teachers. A poster campaign in parts of Leicester is claiming that voting is a challenge to Islam.
