Swann: England played 'old fashioned' one day cricket at World Cup
Ex England bowler Graeme Swann says the team played 'old fashioned' cricket at the World Cup, and must be more aggressive going forward.
The former England bowler Graeme Swann says the current team played 'old fashioned' cricket at the World Cup, and must be more aggressive.
England were eliminated at the Pool stage of the tournament in Australia and New Zealand.
Swann says,"England aren't doing as well in one day competitions because of the belief they're playing the right brand of cricket when they're patently not. We've seen that during this World Cup. They're playing an old fashioned brand of cricket. Forget about stats, forget about data, it's about mindset.
"Whoever is in charge has to fill the team with players willing to go out and be explosive and score 400. We need to go out an be ultra aggressive. Follow what other teams are doing. If we're not going to be a shepherd then be a sheep for a while.
"We have the players in England to play an aggressive form of cricket. They have to be put in the team and encouraged to do that, not just try and get 260 and that should be enough."
