Will Dick Advocaat's wife limit his Sunderland stay?

Dick Advocaat's wife will limit his stay at Sunderland to just two months, according to Dutch journalist Arno Vermeule.

The former Rangers and Holland manager is expected to take over at Sunderland on a short term deal until the end of the season. The club have parted company with Gus Poyet following their 0-4 home defeat to fellow strugglers Aston Villa at the weekend.

Vermeulen said Advocaat has the ability to retain Sunderland's Premier League position, but added that his time at the club might be limited.

“His wife doesn’t allow him to work abroad for a long time. He has to be at home next year so she allows him to work for two months in England for Sunderland," he said.

“He as a coach is capable to do the job in two months, he is technical very good, he has the qualities to put a lot of energy in the team. He did it in the past, two years ago at Alkmaar, so it can be very successful in England."
