Richard Branson said that the American adventurer Steve Fossett was 鈥渙ne of the greatest adventurers in history.鈥�

In 2005 Steve was the first person to fly solo around-the-world in the Virgin Atlantic GlobalFlyer without stopping or refuelling.

Richard Branson sponsored the aircraft and said that Steve was an 鈥渆xtraordinary individual鈥� who set 鈥�100 world records in 15 different sectors鈥�.

Fossett died in 2007 after the plane he was flying over Nevada crashed.
