Amir Khan says the Floyd Mayweather v Manny Pacquiao fight is a bout "everyone has been waiting for."

Mayweather will fight Pacquiao in Las Vegas on 2 May in what promises to be the richest bout in the history of boxing. The fight is expected to generate as much as £162m ($250m).

Khan said: "I think it's a brilliant fight. It's a fight that everyone's been waiting for for a long time.

"I was in talks with both parties. I was speaking to Pacquiao's team and I was speaking to Mayweather's team and I got very close to getting a fight done. Being a boxing fan this fight is a bigger fight so I can't really argue. It leaves me to fight, and I'm in talks with the likes of Miguel Cotto, (Timothy) Bradley, (Juan Manuel) Marquez and the big names in America. That's what I want. The next fight is likely to be in America again and it's all about keeping my name high over there and hopefully one day getting that big fight against Mayweather or Manny Pacquiao.'

Khan also said a fight against fellow Briton Kell Brook could happen. "That fight is a possibility. That would be a massive UK fight, I don't think it would be as big in America but in the UK it would be massive. That fight could definitely be in somewhere like Wembley Stadium and we could sell that out and it'd be massive. In the meantime I have the fights in America with likes of Bradley and Marquez who I want to face before they call it a day and I never get a chance to fight them. With Kell Brook he's always going to be there so that's the good thing about that."
