Harry Gurney on England World Cup squad omission
Bowler Harry Gurney has revealed the reasons he was given for being left out of England’s cricket World Cup squad, saying he was told that despite being one of the ‘better death bowlers’ it wasn’t enough to see him be selected.
Gurney was included in the travelling party for the tour of Sri Lanka before the World Cup but was omitted from the final squad.
“I was told that I was one of the better death bowlers going around but at other periods in the innings with the new ball and through the middle of the innings the likes of Broad and Anderson are better bowlers than me.
They were fairly honest with me, which is great and I've gone away and I've tried to address that. I've just been in South Africa for three weeks working over there (with the England Lions) on one or two different things and hopefully I can hit the ground running when the English season starts."
