Cinematographer Dick Pope has jokingly demanded to be given the Oscar "by default" after he was accidently called "Dick Poop" by the announcer revealing the nominees.

Pope, who has been nominated in the Academy Awards' Best Cinematography category following his work on Mr Turner, told 5 live's Chris Warburton and Anna Foster: "They should be so stricken by embarrassment they should give me the Oscar anyway by default"

"All I'm getting is people saying I'm trending on twitter because they've pronounced my name wrong," he added.

Mr Turner, which explores the last 25 years of British painter J.M.W. Turner's life, has received four Academy Award nominations for Cinematography, Costume Design, Music and Production Design.
