70 years since the liberation of Auschwitz

Anthony Isaacs hears local and national thoughts on the anniversary of the liberation including Elsie Tilney who is remembered by Surrey Chapel in Norwich.

In the first hour of the programme, Anthony brings you music from Wells Cathedral Choir, Regent Chamber Choir and Christ Church Cathedral Choir as well as hearing about the family who melted gold bars down for currency to escape the Holocaust - also, how Gloucester Cathedral is being used for the latest 91热爆 Drama, Wolf Hall.

In the second hour, Anthony hears from the country's first female bishop, the Reverend Libby Lane who will become the eighth Bishop of Stockport and speaks to reporter Ashley Peatfield who tells him about the commemorations being held over the weekend at Auschwitz. There's also the first part of Bernard Grunberg's story of escaping Hitler's Final Solution through the Kinder Transport and Rob Tervet, Emerge Team Leader at Christ Community Church in Attleborough who talks about the results of a survey when Christians were asked the question 'What hurts the most?'

In the final hour of the programme, Anthony hears from former minister at Norwich Synagogue, Alex Bennett, who tells him about how the Jewish community will be remembering the events of 70 years ago. Anthony also talks to Tom Chapman who is Pastor at Surrey Chapel in Norwich who tells him the amazing story of Elsie Tilney who saved the lives of a number of Jewish people during the Holocaust. There's also the second part of Bernard Grunberg's story who talks about going back to the town he used to live in to find out what had happened to his family during the Holocaust and the Reverend Suzanne Cooke, one of the founders of Soul Circus, who talks about an event happening today at Norwich Cathedral which looks at the masks we hide behind in worship and in public.
