Sophie Lewis, who has a rare heart condition and is part of the project said to Today's John Humphrys that she 'hopes' the project will be able to identify the cause of her condition.

Greame Black, Professor of Genetics and Ophthalmology at the University of Manchester who is leading the project at the Genomic Centre in Manchester said that the project is doing what was previously considered "unimaginable".

Professor Black praised the "remarkable" project, stating that in the case of Sophie Lewis, "within weeks or months it would be absolutely possible to identify genetic cause."
