Robbie Rogers on fear of returning to football
Robbie Rogers is the highest profile openly gay footballer in the world.
He's just won the MLS Cup with LA Galaxy in Major League Soccer, having returned to playing football following his decision to come out in 2013.
He's written a book titled 'Coming out to Play', in which he discusses his sexuality and the reaction he received after revealing he was gay.
Robbie told the Today programme: 'After I came out and posted that letter I had thousands and thousands of emails of support and I realised I wasn't the only person dealing with isolation and depression.'
'When I came back it was like things changed overnight which showed me people aren't homophobic, it's more that weird pack mentality in football where people say things they think they should be saying.'
First broadcast Today programme 18 December 2014.
