UKIP "We've grown up" after Kerry Smith resignation
UKIP candidate Kerry Smith has resigned after a recording was released of him making homophobic and racist comments.
Mr Smith, who had been due to stand for election in South Basildon and East Thurrock, initially apologised saying he'd been taking strong pain killers when he made the comments.
UKIP's North West MEP Steven Woolfe, who's standing for Stockport in the General Election, gave his reaction to Smith's resignation: 'What we're showing over last ten years is UKIP have grown up rather dramatically...someone who has used racist and homophobic language has gone within 24 hours'.
