Former air traffic controller: You can't build absolute resilience
Former Transport minister Stephen Hammond said: 'there's going to be a step change when European sky technology and US work together' after airline disruption on Thursday.
Dozens of flights at Heathrow and Gatwick were cancelled or delayed - and several airports across Britain were also affected. The problem at the air traffic control centre in Hampshire has now been resolved, but officials say it will take time for services to fully recover.
Former air traffic controller for NATS,Martin Clipp said: 'You can't build absolute resilience, the system runs at full pelt, a ripple in the system has a big effect'.
