Seven care homes have closed in Northamptonshire since June. The shortage of care home beds is so severe that Northampton General Hospital has 27 beds being used by people who're well enough to leave but can't because there are no care homes with the space to take them - bed blocking. Bosses at NGH say it's just months away from a crisis and it's buying up what care home places it can.
